Earthquake Response: What Your Support Has Made Possible

Dear Friends,

Nearly one month after the devastating earthquake in Myanmar, our partners are still working to reach communities that have been left without basic necessities. And thanks to your generosity, we’ve been able to support them in their efforts.

Together, we’ve raised a remarkable $271,535 in emergency relief—and have already disbursed $188,075 in direct grants to trusted local organizations on the ground. These funds are providing food, medicine, temporary shelter, and transport to displaced families in some of the hardest-hit and most overlooked areas.

We thought you might appreciate knowing how individual donations have mattered so far. Here are some of the supplies that our partners were able to purchase thanks to your support—every contribution counts.

• $1: One packet of electrolyte powder for rehydration—a necessity as temperatures soar above 100°F.

• $2: Ready-to-eat meal for a volunteer rescue worker

• $15: A tarp under which displaced persons can shelter from the elements

• $100: A temporary shelter for the elderly made from wood and bamboo

• $300: Building materials to fix a severely damaged home in a rural area

• $500: Donation of dry food supplies for a group of 50 displaced people

Our team anticipates a continued exodus of people from the country, particularly of those who have lost their homes and are unable to rebuild their lives in the current conditions. As we’ve sadly seen in previous disasters, the military has left many vulnerable communities to fend for themselves. It will be critical to support community-led education, health, and development initiatives to serve affected populations as well as those that continue to flee ongoing war and repression. And our partners will step up as they always do.

As we navigate the path forward, we remain committed to following the lead of our partners.
